around the wrist where it bends, then add one inch to get the correct size in this style.  

Why add one inch? Creative Medical ID bracelets do not fit like other bracelets.
The extra room is needed to allow for a rigid heart tag, lobster clasp and chain  
When the wrist is measured accurately this formula will give a comfortable fit.
